EDU 509 - Creating Inclusive Learning Environments

This course is designed to facilitate students’ understanding of the components of inclusive classroom communities, as well as classroom management and leadership. Using a holistic approach, students will gain an understanding of the relationship between social, emotional, behavioral and academic processes and the academic and non-academic supports to create inclusive learning environments. Teacher candidates will develop skills needed to understand student behavior, identify strategies, techniques and classroom modifications necessary for responding to individual differences in the general classroom setting. Finally, students will begin to develop a personal approach to creating inclusive, effective and engaging learning spaces.
