BHP 610 - Trauma Informed Clinical Practice

This course addresses the need to approach clinical practice through a trauma-informed lens and prepares students to establish a trauma-informed clinical practice that is inclusive of and considers the individual, community-level, and sociopolitical trauma experienced by client populations. Students develop a foundational skill set that provides a safe, supportive patient space regardless of trauma history while gaining an introduction to models of trauma and trauma recovery. Building off suicide assessment skills introduced in BHP 520, students will develop proficiency in suicide assessment and intervention. Complex trauma-related situations and disorders and associated intervention implications are also addressed.
