ARD 210 - History of the Image: Art and Design 4 Hour(s) General Education F1
ARD210 students will study 2-dimentional works in art history from a wide-range of disciplines such as drawing, printmaking, photography, graphic design, and painting while learning art and design-centric terminology for analyzing visual images. Course topics will include interpretative definitions of “image” and possible depictions across artistic practices. Observation, hands-on experimentation, and critical/comparative evaluation of historical and contemporary works of art will expand students’ compositional, verbal and written communication skills. The course offers opportunities to discover a diverse scope of artistic media, creative practices, and innovations in art and design technologies while formulating a lifelong appreciation for artistic expression.
