ARD 490 - Capstone in Art and Design 4 Hour(s) The Art + Design Capstone (4-credit) course focuses on career preparation for students majoring in Art + Design with a Studio Art, Art Education, or Graphic Design emphasis. Topics will include exhibition preparation, critiques, refinement and expansion of student portfolios, crafting artists’ statements, and the development of employment application materials. Students will integrate an extensive range of technical, materials/media, and conceptual skills toward their art career objectives. The course promotes professional communication in the visual arts, including with clients, galleries, and art educators. Students will practice critical thinking through a combination of readings, writings, lectures, field trips, discussions, and exercises. Emphasis will be placed on self-analysis, reflection, integration of feedback, and identification of personal design interests. The semester will culminate in an exhibition or display of artwork in the Joyce Paddock Bliss and Marceil Pultorak Atrium Galleries.
