OTH 561 - Interventions in Physical Dysfunction I

This course builds upon knowledge gained through biomechanics/human movement and neuroscience foundational courses. It introduces occupational therapy (OT) adult theories, frames of reference, and intervention strategies related to physical dysfunction with a focus on orthopedic and musculoskeletal skeletal body conditions. The emphasis of this course includes OT scope of practice, occupational performance areas, and approaches to interventions relating to occupational dysfunction, ergonomics, manual therapy, motor control, modalities, therapeutic exercise-based interventions, orthotic fabrication, and fitting, and adaptive/ modification equipment selection. Adult client factors, performance patterns, and performance skills will be evaluated and analyzed in relation to occupation-based client-centered care across the continuum.
