A Carroll University Marketing major allows students to study the foundations of business and then specialize within the marketing field. Students complete required marketing courses and select one of three specializations: digital marketing, professional selling, or marketing management. They also work in internships for local businesses and get involved in the student chapter of the American Marketing Association. Students who major in Marketing prepare for careers in fields such as internet marketing, professional sales, public relations, and analytics. Graduates are hired by businesses, nonprofits, governments, and other leading employers in the Midwest and nationwide.
Assurance of Learning Goals
Upon completion of an undergraduate degree from the Sullivan School of Business, Engineering and Technology, students will be able to:
- Think critically and creatively. They identify and evaluate potential results of business decisions; evaluate information for credibility and appropriateness; and generate creative and innovative solutions to business problems.
- Collaborate inclusively. They build consensus through conflict resolution and negotiation, and respect and incorporate a range of perspectives in decision making.
- Plan strategically. They identify current and future market conditions; critically evaluate and adjust business strategies; incorporate appropriate qualitative and quantitative analyses in decision making; and develop and recommend strategies that consider multiple factors such as sustainability, socially responsible ethics, and global impacts.
- Communicate effectively. They listen attentively to others to understand their ideas, needs, and viewpoints, and communicate articulately and persuasively in multiple formats (e.g., oral, written, visual) and venues.
