ATH 304 - Therapeutic Modalities

This course applies assessment and evaluation skills to develop goals and treatment plans for physically active people with noted impairments and pathologies. Students are exposed to the physical and therapeutic properties of modalities and their physiologic effects on the human body including impact on the tissue healing continuum. Students are exposed to the physiologic rationales for modality usage and demonstrate the safe and effective use of cryotherapy, thermotherapy, diathermy, electrotherapy, ultrasound, traction, intermittent compression, EMG biofeedback, laser, continuous passive motion, and therapeutic massage.
