CHE 360 - Chemistry Research I

2 Hour(s)
This capstone course is designed for third-year chemistry and biochemistry majors with an American Chemical Society (ACS) emphasis and/or Honors distinction. Majors with the Liberal Arts and Forensic Chemistry emphases may opt into this capstone in lieu of their CHE350 requirement, with faculty approval. This course is the first of two research capstones, with students expected to continue on to CHE460. Weekly speakers will aid students in updating resumes, applying for internships/research opportunities, searching library databases, and discussing the ethics of scientific research. Students will work with a faculty research mentor to design a research project and begin data collection, and are expected to work independently in the lab in addition to class time.

Spring
Prerequisite(s): CHE 204 /CHE 204L , CHE 401 /CHE 401L , and Chemistry or Biochemistry Major status with ACS emphasis and/or Honors Program status. Faculty approval is required for students with Liberal Arts or Forensic Chemistry emphases.
