AIN 340 - Applied Robotics

This course introduces students to the fundamentals of robotic applications and robotic technology. Students in this course will work in teams to build a mechanical robot that can move around and interact with objects. This applied experience will provide insight into the implementation challenges of robotics. Many different application areas of robotics will be examined and discussed, as well as the merits and ethical concerns addressing the rapid expansion of these applications. The impact of robotics is undeniable in manufacturing, as well as in medicine, where robot-assisted surgery has been in use for two decades. Robots and drones are also used for security, defense, and surveillance, and jobs that prove dangerous for human beings. Examples such as these indicate increased robotic interaction in our future everyday lives.
