Global Studies Major - Development and International Political Economy Track

This track focuses on the politics of global economic development and the international economic system. Students will explore:

• The historical, social, and political factors that contribute to or hinder the ability of individual states and regions to grow their economics or to maintain that growth.
• How international economic forces work and the ways in which states and international organizations attempt to control, manipulate, or benefit from those forces.
• The ongoing tension between the interests of developed states and those of newly industrialized and developing states in shaping the future direction and structure of international economic relations.
