Global Studies Major - Security and Global Governance Track

This track focuses on patterns of international conflict and global efforts across time to maintain peace and security in the world. Students will explore:

• The historical, social, and political factors that have led international actors to choose violence or the threat of violence to solve international disputes and the consequences these choices have on the broader international system.
• International efforts at global governance, including international organizations, globalization, and calls for an international government as well as how successful such efforts have been.
• New challenges facing the global community that contribute to international insecurity, including climate change and international terrorist networks.
