BHP 630 - History and Systems of Psychology 3 Hour(s)
Major historical systems and figures of psychology are presented and compared and contrasted with ideas that currently define the study of the field. Major philosophical approaches and classical systems are explored and their relevance and influence on current directions in practice and research are addressed. Emphasis is placed on the examination of the historical and cultural context that shaped the field in the past and present. Present day roles of the counseling professional are addressed, including prevention, intervention, consultation, advocacy, education.
