NRS 501 - Nursing and Health Systems

This course is a hybrid course for the MSN-DE student. This is the first course in the nursing major. It is designed to acquaint the student with the profession of nursing along with their role and impact on a health care system. The foundational concepts, scientific basis and theoretical constructs of nursing will be discussed. MSN-DE students will understand nursing as a distinct profession through exploration of the scope of nursing practice and code of ethics for nursing along with the historical influences and current trends in health care. The impact of the social determinants of health on healthcare systems will be introduced.
