OTH 510 - Neuroscience Foundations for Occupational Therapy Practice

This course will explore the anatomy and physiology of the central nervous system and its relationship to human development, learning, memory, emotions, sensation, perception, and health.  The student will be presented with topics including neuropsychological diseases, disorders, psychosocial dysfunction, learning and memory, and development and normal aging of the nervous system.  Laboratory experiences link occupation and the neurological system and will provide opportunities for observation and application of the course information through clinical examination procedures of the motor, sensory, cognitive, and behavioral systems as performed by an occupational therapist. Case studies in the laboratory will reinforce the clinical application of the course topics.
