BHP 600 - Case Management and Treatment Planning for Clinicians 2 Hour(s)
Building from the diagnostic and mental status exam competency developed in BHP 521 : Psychopathology and Diagnosis and intake interviewing skills developed in BHP 520 : Pre-practicum: Advanced Interviewing, methods of treatment planning and case management are presented with the emphasis on the biopsychosocial-spiritual model application to short and long-term patient care. Students are expected to demonstrate proficiency in clinical diagnosis (originally introduced in BHP 521 ), conducting a mental status exam (originally introduced in BHP 521 ), conducting a clinical intake including collecting a mental health and biopsychosocial history (originally introduced in BHP 520 ). Additional topics include patient engagement, treatment planning including the application of psychological assessment for treatment planning and caseload management, collaboration with community resources and other treatment providers, patient psychoeducation, and crisis intervention. Interviewing and diagnostic competencies developed BHP 521 and BHP 520 are applied to the diagnosis, treatment planning, and case management for complex clinical cases.
